Kyogo Furuhashi has suffered another setback at LA Galaxy, with injury interrupting his search for a first goal for the Major League Soccer side.
The former Celtic striker was forced off after just 11 minutes against St Louis City on October 11, with Galaxy’s official match report confirming his early withdrawal in a 6-2 defeat.
The thigh problem has since seen him miss matches against Portland Timbers and San Diego, adding to a frustrating opening spell in America.
Galaxy confirmed he remained unavailable for the San Diego fixture on October 17, having started nine of his first 11 appearances for the club.
Kyogo has yet to find the net in those outings.
Across spells at Rennes, Birmingham City and Galaxy, he has scored just three times in 48 appearances since leaving Celtic.
It is a stark contrast to the forward supporters grew accustomed to watching in Glasgow, particularly under Ange Postecoglou.
His sharp movement and instinctive finishing made him a favourite at Parkhead. During the treble-winning 2022/23 campaign, he scored 34 goals across all competitions.
Finding that rhythm elsewhere has proved difficult.
His move to Rennes failed to provide the platform he wanted, while a subsequent switch to Birmingham brought little improvement in front of goal.
Kyogo was linked with a Celtic return in January, but remained in England before joining Galaxy this summer.
That move offered another opportunity to rebuild his confidence. An injury is the last thing he needed while trying to get his scoring run started.
Celtic supporters know how effective Kyogo can be when he is confident and getting the right service.
Hopefully, this interruption proves brief and he can return to doing what he did so regularly in the hoops: finding the back of the net.
