Trade predictions are flying left and right as the Pittsburgh Steelers inch ever closer to the 2026 NFL trade deadline. This time, the Steelers have been projected to acquire a first-round wide receiver from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to a trade prediction from FOX Sports' Eric Williams, the Steelers would acquire Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who has seen his role in Jacksonville's offense steadily decline over the past several games.
"The Steelers, with their inability to generate explosive plays down the field, seem like a natural fit for Thomas," Williams wrote. "Rodgers could use some help on the perimeter, with receivers combining for just five touchdowns this year. Thomas also would provide another field stretcher to help open the middle of the field."
Thomas, who was drafted by the Jaguars in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, began his NFL career with a terrific rookie season in which he recorded 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns while also earning Pro Bowl recognition. Unfortunately, he had a somewhat down year in 2025, in which he recorded just 707 yards and two touchdowns. But 2026 has somehow gotten worse, as Thomas has caught just 10 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns in 2026, as well as seeing his snap count take a drastic hit early this season.
The Steelers are in desperate need of some additional wide receiver help, and at 6-2, it's safe to say that the team may be all in on their 2026 season. Thomas could also use a fresh start, and the Aaron Rodgers-led offense in Pittsburgh seems like just the right fit.
