Michigan State vs. Northwestern: Score predictions, analysis from Spartans Wire staff

Check out our predictions for this week's matchup between Michigan State and Northwestern

Can Michigan State football find a way to get their season back on track this week against the ranked Northwestern Wildcats? The Spartans Wire crew has their thoughts about that.

Michigan State will once again look to snap a lengthy losing streak, with No. 25 Northwestern coming to town this weekend. The Spartans come into this matchup in the midst of a four-game losing streak following an overtime loss to Illinois last weekend. Michigan State is 2-4 overall and 0-3 in Big Ten play this year.

Northwestern, conversely, is playing well and climbed into the top 25 rankings of the media poll. The Wildcats are 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Big Ten play. Their lone loss was a strong showing at defending national champion Indiana.

Kickoff for this matchup is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be streamed on Peacock.

MSU is battered, beaten and just plain bad. Find it hard to believe they keep this one competitive.

Robert Bondy

Michigan State’s Jaziun Patterson celebrates his touchdown against Illinois during the fourth quarter on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.

Water has to find its level at some point. Aidan Chiles has yet to throw an interception this season, and that will eventually change. Put me down for an inspired effort from the Spartans and a few key turnovers being the difference in this upset win.
