Harry Kane has responded to calls for him to be knighted after winning the Ballon d'Or on Monday night.
The Bayern Munich striker became the first Englishman to win the award in 25 years after a stunning season in which he scored 73 goals in all competitions for club and country.
When asked about Kane receiving a knighthood, they said: "On your question about a knighthood, I think everyone would agree, Harry Kane has given an enormous amount to English football, and this is a very special moment for him and the country, but, as ever, I'm not going to pre-empt the honours process."
Michael Owen was the last English player to win the individual accolade in 2001, but Kane's incredible season saw him crowned the best.
He had a memorable campaign with Bayern, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and German Supercup.
Kane won his second consecutive European Golden Shoe, netting 36 league goals in 31 appearances for his club.
