Chelsea will be aiming to extend their impressive run against Tottenham Hotspur when the two London rivals meet in a Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

The match, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, comes as both sides seek to build momentum after recording victories in their previous league outings.

Chelsea defeated Tottenham 2-1 in their last meeting at Stamford Bridge towards the end of last season, with Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos finding the net for the Blues.

Chelsea riding high after consecutive victories

Chelsea have collected four wins, one draw and two defeats from their opening seven league matches, placing them among the top four sides in the standings.

Xabi Alonso’s men have recovered well from an inconsistent start, registering convincing victories over Bournemouth and Everton in their last two Premier League fixtures.

They began the run with a commanding 5-1 triumph against Bournemouth before securing a 2-0 win away to Everton last weekend. Pedro Neto scored twice against the Merseyside club as Chelsea ended a frustrating 22-match sequence without keeping a clean sheet in the league.

Alonso was pleased with his team’s disciplined display against Everton and will now challenge his players to maintain their momentum by winning three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since February.

Chelsea have scored 17 goals in the competition this season, with only Brighton and Manchester City boasting better attacking records.

Their home record against fellow London clubs also offers encouragement, having suffered just one defeat in their last 16 Premier League London derbies at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have an additional milestone within reach. They have beaten Tottenham in six consecutive league meetings and could establish a new club record by making it seven in a row. Their existing run matches a sequence achieved between January 2000 and March 2002.

Tottenham seek to overcome Stamford Bridge struggles

Tottenham finally ended their difficult opening to the campaign with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City, bringing an end to six consecutive Premier League matches without a win.

James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies scored as Roberto De Zerbi’s side secured a much-needed result in front of their home supporters.

The victory was only Tottenham’s fourth Premier League win of 2026, having drawn 10 and lost 13 of their previous 27 matches in the competition.

It also marked the first time in 36 league games that Spurs had scored more than twice, providing a timely boost for a team that came close to relegation last season.

Tottenham occupy 16th position but remain only three points behind the top nine, leaving them with an opportunity to climb the standings if they can build on their latest result.

However, their record of winning consecutive league matches has been poor since the beginning of last season, when they managed the feat on only two occasions.

Their trip to Stamford Bridge presents another major challenge. Tottenham have won just once in 34 Premier League visits to Chelsea’s home ground, drawing 11 times and losing 24 matches.

Their only victory during that period came in the 2017-18 season, when Mauricio Pochettino guided Spurs to a 3-1 success.

Since then, Tottenham have managed just two draws in eight visits, losing the other six matches.

Their struggles extend to London derbies generally, with Spurs having lost their last six Premier League encounters against fellow capital clubs. Another defeat would leave them with a seven-match losing sequence in such fixtures, something they have never previously experienced.

Team news and possible line-ups

Chelsea will be without goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who underwent surgery after fracturing his jaw during the victory over Everton.

The injury adds to the club’s existing concerns involving Reece James, Jamie Gittens, Pep Chavarria and Emmanuel Emegha, who are also unavailable. Malo Gusto, however, is expected to return after recovering from illness.

With Martinez sidelined, 21-year-old Mike Penders is in line to start in goal and could become Chelsea’s youngest goalkeeper to feature from the beginning of a Premier League match.

Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill are expected to form the defensive unit in front of him.

Cole Palmer will be another player to watch. The England international has been involved in five goals across his last five league appearances against Tottenham, scoring three and providing two assists.

Joao Pedro has also enjoyed facing Spurs, having scored three times in three Premier League meetings with them. He is expected to feature alongside Palmer and Morgan Rogers in Chelsea’s attacking set-up.

Tottenham have several absentees of their own. Rodrigo Bentancur is serving the second match of a three-game suspension, while Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie are unavailable because of knee injuries. Savio is also expected to miss out with a muscular problem.

Mykhaylo Mudryk, currently on loan from Chelsea, cannot feature against his parent club and is also dealing with an ankle injury.

Tosin Adarabioyo remains doubtful after suffering a calf problem, but Pedro Porro, Omar Marmoush and Andrew Robertson have been cleared to play.

Robertson could be deployed at left-back or as a wing-back, depending on the defensive formation selected by De Zerbi.

Conor Gallagher, who previously played for Chelsea, is pushing for a return to Tottenham’s starting line-up. He could partner Sandro Tonali and Maddison in midfield.

Dejan Kulusevski is also available again after spending more than 500 days out of action, although Mohammed Kudus is expected to retain his place on the right side of the attack.

Predicted starting line-ups

Chelsea: Penders; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Caicedo, Henderson, Hato; Palmer, Rogers; Pedro.

Tottenham Hotspur: Kinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Gallagher, Tonali; Kudus, Maddison, Marmoush; Solanke.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 Tottenham

Both clubs will approach Saturday’s derby with renewed confidence after winning their previous matches. Nevertheless, Chelsea have a stronger case to be considered favourites, particularly given their remarkable record against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have scored at least twice in seven of their last 10 encounters with Spurs, underlining the attacking threat they are likely to pose again.

With Chelsea finding their scoring touch and Tottenham continuing to struggle on their visits to Stamford Bridge, the hosts are expected to claim another victory.

A 3-1 win for Alonso’s side is the predicted outcome, which would extend Chelsea’s winning streak against their London rivals to seven consecutive league matches.
