Bellingham holds positive talks over new Real deal

England midfielder Jude Bellingham has held positive discussions regarding a contract extension with Real Madrid. The 23-year-old currently has just over two and a half years remaining on his deal, and Spanish media reports indicate that a renewal would tie him to the club until 2031.

Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 for 103 million euros (£88.5 million) and has scored 49 goals in 152 appearances. During his impressive debut season, he helped the club win both La Liga and the Champions League, establishing himself as one of Europe's top midfielders.

He has started the 2026-27 season with three goals and three assists in nine matches under manager José Mourinho, following a strong summer campaign where he scored seven goals to help England finish third at the World Cup.

His statistics across three completed La Liga seasons highlight his evolution at the Santiago Bernabeu.

After a prolific debut campaign with 19 league goals and six assists in 2023-24, his goalscoring numbers adjusted as his role adapted—recording nine goals and eight assists in 2024-25, followed by six goals and four assists during an injury-hit 2025-26 season.

Beyond goalscoring, Bellingham has grown increasingly valued for his creativity, work-rate, tactical versatility, and ability to perform in decisive moments.

As a fan favourite who combines immense on-field importance with high marketability, securing a long-term contract extension reflects Bellingham's vital standing within the squad.

At 23 years old, locking down the midfielder represents a major investment in Real Madrid's future as he enters the prime years of his career.
