Mikel Arteta's Arsenal maintained their unbeaten start to this season's Champions League campaign with a gutsy draw away to Bayern Munich. After a cagey start, Arsenal's game plan was rocked when Bukayo Saka went down injured. While a monumental blow, it gave Eberechi Eze the chance to make an impact, and do just that, with the Englishman beating the Bayern offside trap to net the opener. Martin Odegaard's sublime crossfield ball cut the home side open, and Harry Kane delivered an equally impressive pass later in the half, presenting Alphonso Davies with the chance to equalise. Kane turned goalscorer in the second half in a masterful performance, after the home side were given a penalty after a shot hit the hand of Jurrien Timber. But Arsenal kept probing and equalised eight minutes from time with a wonderfully worked Declan Rice goal. Here, Express Sport hand out player ratings from the 2-2 draw...
Pulled off a stunning save in the first half when the game was goalless, and then again early in the second period. The scoreline could've been a lot worse if not for some of the Spaniard's saves.
Jurrien Timber - 6
A little unfortunate to give the penalty away (although it was certainly the right decision). Arsenal look much better with him on the right-hand side.
Ezri Konsa - 6
At sixes and sevens for the Davies equaliser after being bamboozled by Kane's pass. Settled as the game went on.
Chipped in with a couple of important blocks and tackles. Wasn't easy for the Brazil international, given how fluid the Bayern attack was.
One of several Arsenal players who had chances to score from set pieces. Tidy going forward but struggled defensively.
Declan Rice - 8
Given the runaround a little bit, but that was more down to the quality of his opposition. As always, he kept motoring and netted the equaliser in spectacular fashion.
Bruno Guimaraes - 6
Somehow saw a close-range header clawed off the line by Manuel Neuer, but was otherwise ineffective. Had a thankless task in the middle of the park against a dominant Bayern midfield.
Martin Odegaard - 7
Top marks for the pass that broke the deadlock after 25 minutes. Continually threatened before being subbed off six minutes from time.
Noni Madueke - 7
Forced to dig deep from a defensive point of view and definitely chipped in with the dirty work. Looked more comfortable on the right following Saka's injury.
The early signs really aren't great. An innocuous incident that led to the Englishman being taken off early doors. Everyone of an Arsenal persuasion will be crossing their fingers and hoping it isn't serious.
Offered absolutely nothing. Hasn't looked properly fit since picking up a niggle in the international break. So easy to defend against.
Substitutes:
Eberechi Eze - 8
Looked like he'd gone too early after being flagged offside initially, but the playmaker's run was timed to perfection. Continued to threaten when fed the ball in dangerous positions.
Viktor Gyokeres - 7
Gave the Bayern defenders something to think about for the first time all night. Showed his class with a stylish assist for Rice's equaliser.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 6
Helped sturdy Arsenal's midfield up and kept the ball well.
Late change.
