Noah Sadiki Scores Late Winner As Sunderland Extend Perfect Europa League Start

Noah Sadiki scored a dramatic 93rd-minute winner as Sunderland came from behind to defeat Portuguese side Torreense, maintaining their perfect start to the Europa League campaign with a 2-1 victory.

The Black Cats secured all three points in a tense encounter on Thursday, with Sadiki scoring his first goal for the club to complete a comeback after Torreense had taken a surprise first-half lead.

The victory followed Sunderland's 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in their opening European fixture last month and marked their first away victory of the season.

Torreense, who compete in Portugal's second division, stunned the visitors with their only first-half shot on target. Centre-back Volnei Feltes advanced from the halfway line before unleashing a powerful strike into the top corner.

Sunderland struggled to break down their opponents despite creating several opportunities. An earlier effort was ruled out for a push by Omar Alderete, while goalkeeper Lucas Paes produced impressive saves to deny Nilson Angulo and Jules Ahoka.

The visitors eventually found an equaliser in the 67th minute when summer signing Ahoka headed home Nordi Mukiele's cross, registering his first goal since joining the club.

Sunderland appeared to have another opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute following a clash between Mohamed Ali Diadie and Timur Tutierov.

However, Albanian referee Enea Jorgji overturned the decision after reviewing the incident on the pitchside monitor.

With the match heading towards a draw, Sadiki produced the decisive moment in stoppage time, firing a powerful effort into the corner to secure a memorable victory.

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris described the result as evidence of his team's development after returning to European competition for the first time in 53 years.

"We're back in Europe 53 years later and winning this game right at the end is very special," he said.

Sunderland now turn their attention to upcoming European challenges against AC Milan and Anderlecht as they seek to maintain their momentum.
