Hansi Flick Admits PSG Are Better Than Barcelona After Champions League Defeat

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain are currently the better team after his side suffered a 4-2 defeat in their UEFA Champions League meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Despite the disappointing result, the German coach remains hopeful about Barcelona's future and believes his players can learn from the experience as they continue their campaign.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Flick praised the quality of the match but acknowledged that PSG had shown why they are among Europe's strongest sides.

Flick said the game was played at a high level, adding that PSG had demonstrated they were now the better team. He also expressed optimism about Barcelona's future.

PSG Show Their Strength

The match at Parc des Princes was an exciting contest, with both teams creating chances and scoring important goals. Désiré Doué gave PSG the lead in the first half before Barcelona fought back after the break.

Young defender Xavi Espart equalised for Barcelona in the 55th minute, but Lucas Hernández restored PSG's advantage. Lamine Yamal then made it 2-2 in the 79th minute, briefly raising hopes of a Barcelona comeback.

However, Vitinha scored in the 81st minute to put PSG ahead again, and Fabián Ruiz added a fourth goal five minutes later to seal the victory. The result gave the reigning European champions three wins from three matches in the Champions League league phase.

Although the defeat ended Barcelona's perfect start to the 2026/27 season, Flick believes his team can take useful lessons from the encounter.

Barcelona showed attacking quality by recovering twice from behind, but PSG proved more effective in the closing stages. The French side's ability to turn pressure into goals made the difference between the two teams.

The result also gives Flick important areas to address as Barcelona prepare for their next matches. Improving their defensive organisation and maintaining concentration late in games will be key challenges for the Spanish club.

Barcelona will now look to recover from the setback and return to winning ways in their upcoming fixtures.

For Flick, the message remains clear: PSG have demonstrated their current strength, but Barcelona's ambitions for the season are still alive.
