Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace have secured the future of midfielder Samir El Mourabet, with the 21-year-old Morocco international agreeing a new contract that runs until 2031.
The deal underlines Strasbourg’s confidence in a player developed within the club and regarded as an important part of its sporting plans.
Born in Strasbourg, El Mourabet joined Racing when he was 10. He progressed through the various age groups at the Racing Mutest Academie before making the step up to the first team.
His new contract represents another significant stage in that development and reflects Strasbourg’s commitment to retaining players who have come through its own system.
El Mourabet enjoyed a particularly demanding season last term, making 48 appearances in all competitions. He was also involved in Racing’s European campaign in the Conference League, contributing as the club advanced through the competition.
Those performances helped him make progress at international level with Morocco. The midfielder took part in the World Cup played this summer, gaining further experience with the national team.
By extending his agreement for another six years, Strasbourg have made clear their intention to keep El Mourabet at the club and continue overseeing his development in Alsace.
The midfielder has reportedly attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain. His market value is estimated at 22m euros by Transfermarkt, while RB Leipzig also showed an interest in his profile during the previous summer transfer window, according to exclusive information from Africafoot.
Strasbourg’s next fixture will come in the ninth round of the French league season, when they face AJ Auxerre.
