Gallants seek first Betway Prem win, Chippa eye top eight
Gallants seek first Betway Prem win, Chippa eye top eight

Following a sluggish start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, Marumo Gallants remain in search of their first victory of the campaign, while Chippa United could move into the top eight when they take on the stuttering Kruger United on Saturday afternoon.

Gallants have been among the poorest performing teams in the Betway Premiership this season and will go into their next assignment sitting in 16th position with two points from their opening seven matches.

After experiencing back-to-back losses against AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates last time out, Gallants will face Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Babina Noko, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last three outings and moved into sixth place following a tense 3-2 home win over Richards Bay on 19 September.

Elsewhere, ninth-positioned Chippa United will do battle alongside 13th placed Kruger United at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Chilli Boys slowly made their way up the league standings during the last couple of weeks following three straight draws before claiming a 1-0 victory against TS Galaxy on 20 September to increase their tally to eight points from seven games.

Kruger, on the other hand, failed to build on their 1-0 win against the Rockets during matchday six when they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Stellenbosch FC in their most recent encounter.

Their inconsistent run of results, that includes one win, one draw and five losses, saw them collect four points for the campaign as they sit one point above the relegation playoff zone.

Regarding Sunday’s lone fixture, Siwelele will seek to record their first win in the league when they face Polokwane City at the Free State Stadium.

Siwelele will mark their return to action on the back of a 1-1 stalemate alongside Golden Arrows in what was their third draw of the season.

While they suffered four separate losses, Siwelele sit in 14th place on three points, level with Richards Bay who occupy the relegation playoff position.
