Coco Gauff has cast an early vote in the 2026 Midterm General Elections and urged her American fans to vote as well, without making excuses. Currently ranked World No. 5 in the WTA Tour’s singles rankings, Gauff is on a break from competitive tennis after a controversial period in Asia.
On Friday, October 23, Gauff took to her Instagram Stories and shared a couple of posts after casting her vote in Palm Beach County, Florida. The first post featured the two-time Major singles champion showing off a cool sticker she received for voting. The 22-year-old captioned this post:
“Infinity stone acquired! Send me your pics with your sticker ❤️”
The second post was a video of Gauff all smiles as she posed with the sticker in her hands. This particular post was captioned:
“Vote! No excuses!”
The second post’s caption also included numerous blue heart emojis, possibly indicating she voted for the Democrats.
Although Gauff has never actively campaigned for the Democratic Party, she has expressed support for Democratic figures and voiced progressive views on social and political issues.
The killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis in January this year by US federal agents sparked outrage. Gauff was asked about the political climate in her country at the time, ahead of her Dubai Tennis Championships campaign.
Here, the former No. 2 told reporters at a press conference:
“Yeah, everything going on in the US, obviously I’m not really for it. I don’t think people should be dying in the streets just for existing. I don’t like what’s going on. I think for me, it is tough to wake up and see something because I do care a lot about our country. I think people think I don’t for some reason, but I do. I’m very proud to be American.”
In terms of competitive tennis action, Gauff most recently played in Beijing, where a racism row marred her campaign. She subsequently withdrew from Wuhan, where she had won the title last year. Having qualified for the WTA Finals, Gauff is expected to play at the year-end championships.
Gauff has previously won the WTA Finals in 2024, when she defeated then World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals and Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen in the final.
