Pat Nevin concedes Estevao could leave Chelsea despite contract until 2033

Former Chelsea midfielder Pat Nevin believes the club’s current circumstances could force highly rated forward Estevao Willian to consider his future, despite the Brazil international being tied to the London club until 2033.

Nevin, who played for Chelsea between 1983 and 1988, said Estevao possesses “huge talent” but suggested his development is being affected by the limited opportunities available to him.

The 19-year-old has played only 29 minutes in the Premier League during the 2026-27 season. His lack of involvement comes as manager Xabi Alonso uses a 3-4-2-1 formation without traditional wingers.

That system has left Estevao behind Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the competition for places in the attacking positions.

Estevao joined Chelsea from Palmeiras and signed a contract that runs until 2033, but Nevin’s assessment highlights the challenge facing the forward as he attempts to establish himself in Alonso’s side.
