Declan Rice came to the rescue for Arsenal as they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich. The Gunners were staring down the barrel of a first Champions League defeat in normal time for 18 games, but Rice's equaliser snatched a valuable point from Harry Kane and Co.
Despite not being named in the starting line-up, Eberechi Eze opened the scoring with 25 minutes gone. The Arsenal star had replaced Bukayo Saka, who picked up an injury which will leave Mikel Arteta concerned.
Bayern quickly replied through Alphonso Davies, but the equaliser was all about the pass from Kane, who put Bayern 2-1 up from the penalty spot. No wonder the England captain the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or on Monday.
Although Bayern manager Vincent Kompany was well enough to be on the touchline after missing his pre-match press conference through illness, his side were without several key players. Michael Olise was suspended following his red card last time out while Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala were both injured.

Who'd have thought that after being hooked at half-time against Nottingham Forest, Eze would be the man to put Arsenal in front? Very few, we're guessing, after the 28-year-old started on the bench.
But Eze was needed after 10 minutes when Saka injured what looked to be his quad. Arteta gave Eze a smile and a hug before he entered the fray, and quarter of an hour later, he fired Arsenal ahead.
Martin Odegaard launched a wonderfully weighed pass over Bayern's defence which found the chasing Eze, who let the ball bounce before lashing it past Manuel Neuer from close range. The linesman initially raised his flag but the goal was given upon review.

You can't move for Kane stats these days. Whether it be 24 goals and assists already this season, 156 goals in 158 games for Bayern or the fact that he's now scored in 10 successive Champions League games, the numbers speaks for themselves.
It's that last stat which comes into focus on a European night. Kane's well-taken penalty following a handball by Jurrien Timber means that he's one game away from equalling Cristiano Ronaldo's record of scoring in 11 games on the trot.
Next up: Atletico Madrid away. He's never faced them before.

May 2025 marks the last time that Arsenal lost a European fixture inside 90 minutes and the Gunners were determined not to end that run at the Allianz Arena. For all the critics of their style of play, Arsenal worked it beautifully to cut Bayern open before Rice produced an emphatic finish and made it 2-2.
The Gunners midfielder started the move by popping the ball out to Noni Madueke, who then found Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede held off Jonathan Tah and with a lovely touch sent Rice through on goal, and he showed great composure to slot home.
