Lille defender Alexsandro Ribeiro has expressed his excitement about facing Victor Osimhen when the French side take on Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.

The teams are scheduled to meet at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in a Matchday Three fixture, with both sides seeking their first points in the competition after losing their opening two games.

The encounter will also see Osimhen return to a familiar ground, having played for Lille during the 2019/2020 season before joining Napoli.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ribeiro acknowledged the challenge of facing the Nigerian striker, describing the contest as a personal battle between them.

“Yes, I’ll be playing against Osimhen. It’s going to be a tough match for us. It will be a bit of a battle between the two of us,” the Brazilian said.

The centre-back also expressed satisfaction with his progress this season after an injury-hit campaign last year.

“I’m back on the pitch. It feels great. My injury last year was different; I couldn’t play many games. I’m showing good progress this season, and I want to continue like that. The club have also made a big contribution to this,” he added.
