Emiliano Martínez has reassured Chelsea supporters he'll return within weeks after jaw surgery forced him off during Saturday's 2–0 Premier League win over Everton. The 34-year-old Argentina World Cup winner collided with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite in the second half and was stretchered away.

Martínez was taken to hospital where surgeons repaired his broken jaw. Manager Xabi Alonso later confirmed the goalkeeper had also suffered a concussion.

The shot-stopper posted on social media Sunday to calm nerves about his recovery timeline. "Thanks to everyone for the messages.

The operation went well. The most important thing is that we won and kept a clean sheet.

In a few weeks we'll be back," he wrote.

His optimistic update comes as Chelsea prepare for a packed fixture list without their first-choice keeper. Mike Penders, who replaced Martínez to make his Premier League debut against Everton, will likely start upcoming matches.

The blues face Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the league. A Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool falls between those two demanding encounters.
