Arsenal striker, Karl Havertz, has become the top German top scoring player in the Premier League following his goal in the club’s 1-0 win over Liverpool.
Havertz was tied up with fellow compatriot, Ilkay Gundogan, on 45 goal each before the game against the Merseyside club, but has now gone one ahead with the goal which helped the Gunners pick up maximum three points which soared the North London club to the apex of the league table in their bid to reclaim the title.
The lanky player, on his 172 appearance in the competition, latched on to a grounder cross from teammate, Declan Rice, and fired into the net at Anfield yesterday, after which Arsenal fought for a clean sheet to record the victory.
He now leads the record with 46 goals ahead of former Manchester City’s Gundogan on 45 in second place, as well as Brighton’s Pacal Gross on 33, Jurgen Klinsmann on 29 and Uwe Rolser, also on 29, all making the top six.
His record numbers scanned back to his times at Chelsea where he garnered 19 goals in his 91 league appearances and 27 for the Gunners where he won his first and only title last season.
