On 8 October 2026 the Washington Spirit announced that Gift Monday had been traded to Boston Legacy Football Club. It ended a spell of just over a year and a half in the National Women's Soccer League. Washington received 500,000 dollars in transfer threshold funds, a payment between clubs and not the forward's own pay. The Super Falcons striker is 24.
Searches for her salary, net worth and age have jumped since the move. Here is what the record supports.

Monday came up in Nigeria. She started at COD United Amazons, moved to FC Robo, and was named NWFL Premiership Player of the Month for December 2020 and January 2021. At Bayelsa Queens she helped win the 2021-22 title and finished as top scorer, and she was named 2022 NWFL Premiership Player of the Season.
Spain followed.
She joined UD Tenerife in 2022 and scored 19 goals in 66 appearances, according to Wikipedia, and was named Liga F Player of the Month for February 2025. The Spirit signed her that March.
September 2025 was the peak. Against the Houston Dash she scored three goals in 35 minutes and 52 seconds, the fastest hat-trick from kick-off in NWSL history. She also scored twice at Audi Field in the playoffs last season, which helped the Spirit return to the NWSL Championship, according to the club's own announcement of the trade.
Sporting director James Hocken called her “a valuable contributor in our attacking third.” Boston general manager Domè Guasch said she “brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack.” Monday said she was “very happy and honored to be here today as I officially join this wonderful club.”
The Spirit keep a 20 percent sell-on clause if Boston later moves her to a third club, and neither club's statement gives the length of her contract, although some outlets reported a five-year deal. We leave the five-year figure out because only one outlet carries it. Wikipedia lists her Washington record as 40 appearances and 9 goals, while the clubs say 48 and 12, and we use the club figures.
Her international record starts at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France. In 2019 she captained Nigeria to African Games gold, beating Cameroon 3-1 on penalties, and in 2021 she was in the squad that won the Turkish Women's Cup. She was named in the 23-player group for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The senior team has not always had room for her. She missed the July 2025 WAFCON, which the Falcons won. In October 2025 coach Justin Madugu left her out again for the qualifier against Benin Republic. “It's a big challenge for me, but I'm going to face it and keep pushing until I get my shirt,” she told ESPN.
She got there in 2026.
In August she scored in the 6-2 win over Egypt that sealed Nigeria's quarter-final place, doubling Nigeria's lead in the 55th minute, with Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade and Joy Omewa also scoring. Cameroon won the quarter-final 1-0 on 9 August, ending the title defence and costing Nigeria an automatic place at the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. More on her team-mates is in our Asisat Oshoala salary breakdown and the Rasheedat Ajibade biography.
Neither club has published her pay.
No reliable source gives a net worth either. Treat any figure online as a guess.
What can be said is the floor. Under the NWSL collective bargaining agreement reached in 2024, the league minimum was 48,500 dollars in 2025 and rises to 82,500 dollars by 2030, and there is no cap on an individual player's salary. We found no published 2026 minimum. We put no number on this season, and we have not converted the figure to naira because her real contract may sit well above it. The 500,000 dollars paid by Boston is a club-to-club figure and tells you nothing about her wages. Our Deborah Abiodun salary piece shows how little pay is public across the Falcons squad.
Wikipedia gives her date of birth as 9 December 2001 and her birthplace as Akwa Ibom, so she turns 25 on 9 December. The sources we checked do not state her state of origin, and we will not assume one. Our Super Falcons state of origin guide lists the players for whom it is confirmed.
The old slug of this page asked about a boyfriend. There is no public record of that, and Monday has not discussed a relationship in the interviews we found.
Boston is an expansion club.
It is building its first NWSL squad, so Monday arrives as one of its established forwards, and for the Falcons, regular football there is the best argument she can make to Madugu as Nigeria prepare for the World Cup play-offs.
