Morocco and Germany meet in crucial Women’s U17 World Cup Group A clash

The match will kick off at 18:00 Morocco time at the Complexe Mohammed VI de football in Sale, with a 19:00 start in France. It is the second-round fixture in a tournament being hosted by Morocco from 17 October to 7 November.

The other Group A match between Argentina and New Zealand will begin at 15:00.

The game will be shown in Morocco on Arryadia TNT and will also be available through SNRT Live. beIN Sports is among the announced broadcasters in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The match will also be streamed free of charge on FIFA+, the FIFA’s official platform, in the majority of territories. All matches in the competition are being offered live there. In Germany, the fixture will additionally be broadcast on DAZN. FIFA has confirmed that the tournament will be available on FIFA+.

Both teams made winning starts to the competition.

Morocco’s Lioncelles de l’Atlas impressed in front of their home crowd as they defeated New Zealand 4-0. Despite dominating for long periods, Youness Rabie’s side had to wait until the second half to establish a clear advantage.

Sonia Abajiou opened the scoring before a New Zealand own goal increased Morocco’s lead. Imane Dhissi then added a third, while Hiba Youssoufi completed the victory from the penalty spot.

Youssoufi, who supplied an assist before scoring herself, was named player of the match. The result put Morocco at the top of the group on goal difference.

Germany, who had been identified as one of Morocco’s main opponents when the draw was made last May, faced a tougher test against Argentina. The European champions at this age level fell behind early but recovered to win 2-1, with captain Johanna Hebben playing a key role in the comeback.

Tuesday’s meeting will give one of the two teams a significant opportunity to strengthen their hopes of reaching the knockout stage. The top two sides in each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will qualify for the last 16.

After their emphatic opening victory, Morocco now face a measure of their ambitions against one of European women’s football’s leading youth sides.
