Tottenham Hotspur may be set to battle Manchester United for a highly-rated Croatian centre-forward, and the two clubs have now learned how much the player is likely to cost in January.

A whole host of centre-forwards around Europe are reportedly being watched by Spurs, who have prioritised signing a number nine to their squad in January.

It was reported by TEAMtalk last week that Tottenham had been impressed by Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo, who has made an exceptional start to the new season

It was reported that the centre-forward, who has scored 12 goals in his last 14 games, including 10 in seven league appearances, was also on the radar of Man United.

A new report in Fichajes has now backed up claims that Spurs and United are the front-runners to land the 24-year-old striker.

The report claims both the Red Devils and the Lilywhites are keen on adding firepower to their forward line, and both clubs are closely monitoring the progress of Beljo.

It is suggested that Spurs view the Dinamo Zagreb man as a ‘valuable long-term investment’, and believe he fits the mould of the traditional number nine Roberto De Zerbi wants to add to his squad.

Meanwhile, Utd want to increase competition for places up front and have been impressed with Beljo’s physical presence, intelligent movement and finishing ability.

The report adds that the Croatian club would be prepared to sanction the striker’s departure for around €20m to €25m (£16.8m-£21m) in January.

Beljo is also on the radar of three clubs

While this update primarily focuses on Tottenham’s and Man United’s interest in the Dinamo man, it is revealed that three other clubs, including another Premier League side, are also considering a move.

Newcastle are also said to be keen on adding a reliable goalscorer to their squad and are watching Beljo ahead of the January window.

Additionally, the Croat has also made it onto the radars of both Real Betis and AC Milan. The website adds that the battle for the striker’s signature could intensify over the next couple of months, particularly if he maintains his strong start to the season.
