Kelechi Iheanacho says he is eager to continue his outstanding scoring run after the Super Eagles striker set a new landmark in Turkish football while playing for Bursaspor.
Iheanacho said Bursaspor had faced a demanding opening 45 minutes before taking control after the restart.
“It was an excellent display, particularly during the second half,” Iheanacho told beIN SPORTS. “The first half was tough, but after the break we controlled the match very well and got the goals.”
“We are pleased with the win. They are a good team and we managed to beat them on their own ground, so everyone is very happy.”
The win lifted Bursaspor into second place in the standings, where they now have 22 points.
The forward was also pleased with his own impact and said he wants to continue contributing as Bursaspor pursue further points.
“I am happy with my own performance too, because I helped the team climb the table,” he said. “We are second now, and we hope to keep picking up more points.
“Hopefully I can continue scoring, and in the end we can reward our work with victory,” he added.
The two-goal display moved Iheanacho to 14 goals and three assists from 10 appearances this season.
His scoring sequence of 10 straight matches has also eclipsed the previous nine-match streaks achieved by Turkish greats Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı.
