Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged victorious in the inaugural Ballon d’Or of All Time (B.O.A.T) award after a landslide fan vote. The prize was launched this year by UEFA and France Football magazine to crown the greatest player in the history of Ballon d’Or winners. Unlike the main Ballon d’Or award - which Harry Kane won on Monday night - the award was decided by a global vote, as opposed to the opinion of journalists - it cost €1 to cast a vote. Therefore, not too much weight can be placed on the award, but it's still undoubtedly an achievement for Ronaldo.
Ten players were nominated for the B.O.A.T award, who had all won the most prestigious individual prize at least twice in their career. And Ronaldo emerged victorious from his success in 2008, when he was at Manchester United before his famous move to Real Madrid. The 41-year-old edged out his famed adversary Lionel Messi to win, with the Argentinian’s 2012 campaign with Barcelona finishing second.
