Venda FC striker Knox Mutizwa has revealed to FARPost why he opted for a move to the Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit, despite having a pool of tempting offers from top-flight clubs in the Betway Premiership and Zimbabwe.

The experienced 33-year-old is among the marquee signings brought in to help turn around the fortunes of the struggling Limpopo side. He joined Venda FC following a spell with Betway Premiership side Richards Bay FC.

The former Golden Arrows marksman is yet to make his official debut under coach Kaitano Tembo as he continues to work on his match fitness.

FARPost previously reported that Zimbabwean giants Highlanders FC were among the clubs pushing hard to secure the services of the lethal forward.

MUTIZWA EXPLAINS DECISION TO JOIN VENDA FC

Speaking to this publication, Mutizwa confirmed that while there was interest from both South Africa and his homeland, the vision presented by Venda FC ultimately convinced him.

“Oh yeah, you know in football if you want something and some things are going to happen your way,” Mutizwa told FARPost.
“But I’m glad I’m here [Venda FC] to try and help the team get promotion [to the Premiership]. You know there are good players in this team, and their project is very good and massive.

“So when they presented the project to me, I said I want to come and help. In life, you might want one thing, and another happens, but the goal now is to win games so that we can secure promotion this season.”

MUTIZWA ON WHY HE TURNED DOWN PSL, AND ZIMBABWE OFFERS

While reluctant to dive into the finer details of negotiations with other suitors, the veteran forward hinted that discussions elsewhere simply fell through.

“Yeah, there were offers. There were offers locally in the PSL [Betway Premiership] and even in Zimbabwe. As I said, sometimes things don’t go your way in life,” Mutizwa explained.

“But I’m happy to be here [at Venda FC]; everything is good. We didn’t start well, but we keep pushing and doing everything we can to push for promotion this season.”

Venda FC have endured a challenging start to the 2026/27 campaign. The Limpopo-based side currently finds itself anchored at the bottom of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings after collecting just one point from their opening eight fixtures.

Tembo will be leaning heavily on Mutizwa’s veteran leadership and proven goalscoring pedigree to ignite their season once the forward reaches full match sharpness.
