It is the second time that France Football, the magazine that organises the gala each year, has presented this award in the women's category. The first edition took place last season, when the Barça goalkeeper finished in third place behind Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
The Barça number 13 came out ahead of Berger (Gotham FC), Hampton (Chelsea), Lorena (Kansas City Current), and Yamashita (Manchester City) in the voting conducted by the jury of the prestigious annual awards.
Cata Coll was recognised for an outstanding 2025/26 season in which the goalkeeper from Mallorca appeared in 32 matches across all competitions. In those games, she conceded only 16 goals, an extraordinary achievement.
These statistics, combined with her excellent footwork and fearless approach, proved crucial to Barça's success in winning four major trophies. Under coach Pere Romeu, the team captured the league title, the Copa de la Reina, the UEFA Women's Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup. Without a doubt, it was a season to remember.
Furthermore, this is the first time that this award has been won by a goalkeeper from FC Barcelona, in either the men's or women's game. Until now, the closest anyone had come was Marc-André ter Stegen, who finished as the runner-up in 2019. Cata Coll has therefore made history and continues to prove that Barça's goalkeeping position is in the best possible hands.
