Rivers United and Rangers will battle for supremacy at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday. Both clubs are locked on 17 points in the title race but separated by goal difference.

Rivers United tasted defeat for the first time last season when Bendel Insurance beat them 2-1 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. Rangers, meanwhile, are regrouping after Algerian side MC Alger knocked them out of the CAF Champions League.

Rivers United hold a commanding record at home in matchday 11. The hosts have won all 10 previous meetings against Rangers in Port Harcourt since rebranding from Dolphins FC.

Rangers last claimed victory at the venue in 2003 with a 1-0 win over the Pride of Rivers. That victory remains a distant memory as the two teams prepare for Sunday's showdown.
