Nigeria's Flamingos have booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after edging Venezuela 1-0 in a tightly contested quarter-final. Azeezat Oduntan struck the decisive blow, converting a penalty late in the match to secure the victory.

The Nigerian side controlled much of the game but found Venezuela's defence difficult to penetrate. Coach Akeem Busari's team created chances throughout but lacked clinical finishing when it mattered.

The breakthrough came when Oluebube Umejiaku was fouled inside the box. Oduntan calmly stepped up and buried the spot kick to settle the contest just as extra time loomed.

Nigeria will face Brazil in their semi-final clash on Wednesday as they pursue the tournament title. The Flamingos' resilience proved the difference in a match where Venezuela barely threatened at the other end.
