Enzo Maresca says Geronimo Rulli understands his position as Manchester City’s second-choice goalkeeper after the Argentina international joined the club last summer.

The 34-year-old has appeared twice for Manchester City this season, both times in the EFL Cup. He has conceded two goals and kept one clean sheet.

“Rulli understands his role,” Maresca said.

Rulli’s latest appearance came on 28 October, when Manchester City overcame Brighton in the EFL Cup. The match finished 2-2 before City won 4-3 on penalties.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday, 31 October, this time in the ninth round of the Premier League.
