Ten players set to miss Manchester United vs Roma Champions League encounter

According to a report by Manchesterevening News on Monday November 2, 2026, when Manchester United and AS Roma meet on Tuesday nite for a crucial Champions League match, both teams will have injury worries to handle.

Michael Carrick is still dealing with defensive absences, most notably at left back, where the veteran defender Luke Shaw is out with a new muscle injury. United have tried a few different things, but they just can't seem to settle on a starting eleven.

Carrick has been unable to rotate his team due to the club's extensive injury situation. While Marcus Rashford's status is uncertain due to an ongoing hip issue, Benjamin Sesko and Manuel Ugarte are anticipated to spend lengthy periods on the sidelines.

Another player undergoing evaluation is Amad Diallo, who hurt himself in the most recent loss to Chelsea. These losses have come at a bad time for United, who are trying to improve their European campaign and end a winless streak of nine matches.

On Monday, Patrick Dorgu returned to first-team training and seemed to provide some encouragement. The Denmark international had rejoined his teammates at Carrington, but Carrick confirmed he would not play against Roma.

It was wonderful to have him back for his first day with the group, but tomorrow he won't be involved, Carrick explained. He went on to say that the team would be keeping tabs on the defender all week long.

Dorgu hasn't played since injuring his hamstring in September's Nations League match against Wales for Denmark. He went back to Manchester for treatment after being substituted off in the middle of the game. United are cautious not to put him in danger by trying to hasten his recovery, despite the fact that his return to training is promising.

Despite their impressive recent performances, Roma will also be without a number of key players due to injury. Gian Piero Gasperini's squad is currently in third place in Serie A, following a 7–3 record in their first 10 league games.

In their most recent match, they prevailed over Udinese 5-2. Despite losing 4-3 to Real Madrid, Roma have a point after drawing 1-1 with Fenerbahce and a 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava in their three European matches.

Injuries to the thighs have sidelined Lorenzo Pellegrini and Manu Kone, while Mile Svilar is nursing a foot issue that has kept him out of action. Despite Paulo Dybala's calf injury, he may still be considered if he makes a full recovery.

United lost badly to Como in Europe and have lost three games in a row against Bournemouth and Chelsea. They will be looking to bounce back in Tuesday's match.
