Turkish Super Lig Table After Galatasaray Won 2-1

According to a report by BBC Sport on Monday, October 26, 2026, Galatasaray strengthened their position in the Turkish Super Lig title race after securing an important 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce in a highly competitive encounter.

The result saw Galatasaray climb back to the summit of the league standings with 22 points, establishing a two-point advantage over their nearest challengers. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce suffered a setback in their pursuit of the league leaders, dropping to fifth place with 16 points.

Galatasaray approached the encounter with determination, knowing that a victory would significantly improve their position in the championship race. Their attacking efforts eventually produced the opening goal in the 29th minute when Nigerian international Victor Osimhen converted a pass from Baris Alper Yilmaz to put his team ahead.

The hosts continued to dominate proceedings and increased their advantage just before the interval. Osimhen completed his brace in the 44th minute after receiving an assist from Davinson Sanchez, giving Galatasaray a comfortable two-goal cushion heading into the break.

However, Fenerbahce showed greater attacking urgency after the restart as they attempted to recover from their first-half difficulties.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 62nd minute when Irfan Kahveci found the net following an assist from Oguz Aydin, reducing the deficit and bringing renewed excitement into the contest.

The visitors subsequently pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Galatasaray maintained their defensive discipline and successfully resisted the pressure.

Despite several attempts by Fenerbahce to restore parity, the home side protected their narrow advantage until the final whistle.

Osimhen emerged as the decisive figure in the encounter, with his two first-half goals making the difference between the teams. The Nigerian striker's impressive contribution further highlighted his importance to Galatasaray's ambitions of securing another domestic championship.

Following the result, Galatasaray occupied first position in the Turkish Super Lig standings with 22 points, two points clear of the team immediately behind them.

Fenerbahce, on the other hand, remained on 16 points in fifth position, leaving them six points behind Galatasaray after the defeat.

The outcome represents another significant development in the Turkish title race, with Galatasaray gaining valuable momentum while their rivals face increasing pressure to recover lost ground.

With several league fixtures still to be played, Galatasaray will be hoping to maintain their advantage at the top of the standings, while Fenerbahce must improve their performances to remain competitive in the championship battle.
