According to a report by Goal on Monday, October 19, 2026, Rayo Vallecano missed the opportunity to claim all three points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe in their LaLiga encounter at the Coliseum.
The visitors made a promising start and broke the deadlock in the 11th minute through Alvaro Garcia, who converted from close range after being set up by Jorge de Frutos. Rayo Vallecano looked comfortable in possession during the opening stages and appeared capable of extending their lead, but they were unable to capitalise on their chances.
Getafe’s situation became more complicated in the 28th minute when Djene received a straight red card for bringing down Garcia as the last defender. The dismissal left the hosts with ten players for the remainder of the contest and forced them to adjust their approach against a Rayo side that enjoyed the greater share of possession.
However, Getafe showed considerable determination despite their numerical disadvantage and continued searching for an equaliser. Their persistence was rewarded in the 56th minute when Martin Satriano struck a superb right-footed volley past the goalkeeper following an assist from Francho Serrano.
The goal transformed the atmosphere of the contest, giving the hosts renewed confidence while putting pressure on Rayo Vallecano to respond. The visitors pushed forward in search of a decisive second goal, creating opportunities as the match progressed, but their finishing let them down.
Getafe also deserve credit for their defensive resilience, as they successfully resisted Rayo’s attempts to find a late winner despite playing with ten men for more than an hour.
Rayo Vallecano ended the match with 68 per cent possession but were left frustrated after failing to turn their numerical advantage and control of the ball into victory.
The result leaves Rayo Vallecano in 13th place in the LaLiga standings with nine points, while Getafe sit 14th with the same number of points.
