According to Madrid Universal on Friday, October 23, 2026, former Real Madrid midfielder Guti said he hopes Kylian Mbappé wins the Ballon d’Or and predicted that José Mourinho’s side will defeat Barcelona in the upcoming El Clásico.
Excitement is building ahead of Sunday’s first Clásico of the season. Although Barcelona enter the match in strong form, Guti believes his former club can secure a significant win.
Speaking in an interview, Guti discussed the Ballon d’Or race and shared his expectations for the clash between the Spanish rivals. He forecast an entertaining, high-scoring game, predicting a 4–2 victory for Real Madrid. “I’d be very happy if Real Madrid won,” he said.
Guti acknowledged that beating Barcelona would be a difficult task, noting the team’s impressive performances and ability to make the most of its attacking chances. “I think it’s going to be a very tough match for them, and Barcelona has a good shot at winning,” he said.
He also made clear that he would like to see Mbappé claim football’s top individual award. “I would be absolutely thrilled if Mbappé wins the Ballon d’Or, but anything can happen,” Guti said.
While backing the French forward, Guti noted that the race remains open. He named Mbappé, Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Harry Kane among the leading contenders, adding that both Mbappé and Yamal have a strong chance of winning.
