According to a report by Flashscore on Sunday October 25, 2026, Barcelona suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico after failing to capitalise on several promising opportunities.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring in the first half before Raphinha restored parity in the 61st minute. However, Mbappe struck again in the 88th minute after receiving a pass from Eduardo Camavinga, securing victory for Real Madrid. Despite Barcelona’s improved attacking display after the break, several players failed to make their opportunities count as the hosts fell short against their fierce rivals.
1. Lamine Yamal
Yamal endured a frustrating evening despite creating moments of attacking promise. The Barcelona winger missed a golden opportunity in the 44th minute when he found himself inside the six-yard box but sent his effort narrowly wide of the right post. He continued searching for an equaliser after the break, but his 65th-minute attempt was blocked by a defender. In the 74th minute, he fired another effort well wide before seeing his shot blocked again in the 82nd minute. His inability to convert these chances proved costly.
2. Anthony Gordon
Gordon struggled to turn his attacking contributions into a decisive result for Barcelona. In the 16th minute, Andriy Lunin denied his powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area with an important save. He created another promising opportunity in the 35th minute, but the Madrid goalkeeper produced an excellent stop to keep him out. Gordon was eventually booked in the 85th minute for a heavy challenge before being substituted. Although he tested Lunin, his missed opportunities left Barcelona frustrated.
3. Fermin Lopez
Fermin failed to provide the attacking influence Barcelona needed during the contest. In the 24th minute, he attempted a shot towards goal, but a Real Madrid defender blocked the effort before it could trouble Lunin. He continued working in midfield but struggled to produce a decisive contribution as Madrid protected their advantage. Hansi Flick eventually substituted him in the 74th minute, bringing Frenkie de Jong onto the pitch in search of a stronger attacking response.
4. Joao Cancelo
Cancelo struggled to make his attacking contributions count against Real Madrid. In the 35th minute, he delivered a corner that Lunin read well, preventing Barcelona from creating a meaningful threat from the set piece. He also sent a dangerous lofted cross into the penalty area in the 59th minute, but Madrid’s defence intercepted the delivery. Although he attempted to provide width and attacking support, his efforts failed to produce a decisive outcome.
