Superagent shuts down rumours linking Liverpool with €40m signing

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, October 16, 2026, Rafaela Pimenta has dismissed claims that Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Mexican youngster Gilberto Mora, arguing that the growing transfer speculation is putting unnecessary pressure on the promising teenager.

Mora turned 18 on Wednesday, making him eligible to join a European club. His birthday has coincided with increased speculation about his future, with Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly interested in the Mexico international.

Recent reports from Mexico claimed that Liverpool had submitted an offer exceeding €40 million for the midfielder. However, the reported figure raised questions because earlier reports from Spain suggested that his release clause could be worth approximately €25 million.

Tijuana announced this summer that Mora's new contract included an exit clause, although the Mexican club has yet to disclose the exact amount required to activate it.

Meanwhile, rumours about the teenager's future have continued to intensify. Some reports have suggested that he has already reached an agreement with an unnamed European club.

There were also claims that Mora missed Mexico's recent international fixtures because of a minor injury, allegedly to prevent any potential transfer from being affected. However, these reports have not been confirmed.

Speaking to TNT Sports Mexico, Pimenta directly addressed the speculation and insisted that no agreement had been reached for the youngster's transfer.

She explained that she decided to grant the interview because the rumours had appeared across several platforms. Pimenta also criticised the excessive attention surrounding the teenager, arguing that he needed time and space to develop without being subjected to unnecessary pressure.

The representative further noted that transfers cannot be completed while the relevant window is closed, with the next opportunities expected in January and then June.

Despite his young age, Mora has already established himself as a promising talent. He made his senior international debut at 16, featured at this summer's World Cup and has recorded 62 first-team appearances for Tijuana.

Pimenta maintained that the midfielder's future would unfold according to the plans already in place. She also emphasised that his birthday should have been an opportunity to celebrate his life and achievements rather than another occasion for speculation about a possible transfer.
