According to a report by Metro on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has revealed the message he has given his players ahead of their Champions League clash against Manchester United.

The Italian side will welcome the Premier League giants to the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Wednesday, with Fabregas eager to guide his team to a memorable victory.

Como have enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years, securing promotion from Serie B in 2024 before finishing fourth in Serie A last season to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Fabregas's team began their European campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig but suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Feyenoord in their second match.

Ahead of the meeting with United, the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder acknowledged that his opponents might have superior individual quality but insisted that his players could compete through determination and the right mentality.

He described the fixture as a dream opportunity against one of the biggest clubs in football history, while urging his players to believe they could claim all three points. "It’s a great match against one of the best and biggest teams in history,’ said Fabregas. ‘It’s a match to dream about, but we must try to do our best to try to win and pick up the three points," he said.

Fabregas stressed that Como's inner strength and collective mentality would be crucial as they prepare to face a team with greater European experience. "Our inner strength and our mentality are what must make us strong and allow us to believe that we can do it," he added.

The Spanish coach also explained that his managerial philosophy has been shaped by the top coaches he worked with during his playing career, although he remains committed to developing his own ideas.

He wants his players to remain true to their identity, even in defeat, rather than leave the pitch regretting that they failed to follow their principles.

Como have made a solid start to the Serie A season, recording four victories and just one defeat in their opening seven matches, according to the report.
