According to a report by the official Facebook page of Fabrizio Romano on Friday, November 6, 2026, Manchester United have reportedly invited 100 special guests to Old Trafford this weekend to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson’s arrival at the club.
The gathering will honour the Scottish manager’s remarkable contribution to Manchester United and English football.
Ferguson joined the club in November 1986 and went on to build one of the most successful teams in football history.
During his 26-year reign, Ferguson guided United to 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two UEFA Champions League trophies.
His greatest season came in 1998–99, when United won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League to complete an historic treble.
Ferguson also developed some of the club’s greatest players, including Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Gary Neville.
His famous Class of ’92 became central to United’s dominance during the 1990s and early 2000s.
The former manager retired in 2013 after leading Manchester United to their 20th league title, a record that cemented his status as the club’s most successful manager.
The special event is expected to bring together former players, club officials, close associates and other figures connected to Ferguson’s illustrious career.
Supporters will also use the occasion to celebrate the manager who transformed United into a global football powerhouse.
For many fans, Ferguson remains “the greatest legend in Manchester United’s history.” His legacy continues to influence the club, years after his departure from the touchline.
