According to BBC Sport, Arsenal secured an important 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday after delivering a determined and well-organised performance in their Premier League encounter. Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal in the first half, allowing the Gunners to claim all three points against their rivals.
Liverpool began the contest with an aggressive approach, hoping to put Arsenal under immediate pressure. However, goalkeeper David Raya was quick to make his presence felt, producing an important save to deny Bradley Barcola during the early stages. Arsenal remained compact defensively, making it difficult for the home side to create meaningful opportunities.
The visitors eventually broke the deadlock in the 16th minute through an excellent attacking move. Declan Rice supplied an impressive pass into the Liverpool penalty area, allowing Havertz to take control of the ball before calmly finishing from close range. The goal gave Arsenal an early advantage and increased the pressure on Liverpool to respond.
Following the setback, Liverpool attempted to restore parity through Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister. However, Arsenal maintained their defensive discipline, with Raya making important interventions. Florian Wirtz came particularly close to scoring when his dangerous free kick struck the crossbar before the interval.
Liverpool also believed they deserved a penalty after Gakpo went down inside Arsenal's penalty area. However, referee Andy Madley dismissed the appeal following a VAR assessment, allowing the visitors to maintain their lead.
The second half saw Liverpool enjoy greater possession as they searched for an equaliser. Isak fired an effort over the crossbar, while another attempt from Wirtz was blocked by Arsenal's defenders. Despite their attacking pressure, the hosts struggled to penetrate the visitors' defensive structure.
Arsenal also created opportunities through Noni Madueke, Jurrien Timber and Christos Tzolis. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson prevented Tzolis from extending the visitors' advantage with an excellent reflex save.
Liverpool continued pushing forward during the closing stages, but Arsenal remained organised and refused to surrender their advantage.
Even after seven minutes of added time, the home side could not find a breakthrough. Arsenal eventually secured a valuable away victory, strengthening their Premier League campaign while leaving Liverpool disappointed at Anfield.
