Morgan Rogers had a standout game for Chelsea on Saturday, scoring the opening goal in style as he showed his technical ability and confidence with an excellent individual goal, according to a report by Football London on Tuesday November 3, 2026.
Despite a shaky backline from Manchester United, the England international was calm on the ball, dribbling into the box before chipping the ball over the oncoming goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Rogers now has six goals and four assists in all competitions this season, and his start at the club has certainly made the British record £117 million fee he made look like good money after leaving Aston Villa.
On Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher and former Everton centre back Seamus Coleman spoke about his performances, with Coleman pointing out how similar he is to former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.
Rogers has scored all five of his Premier League goals from just off centre, usually between six and twenty yards out. But has shown a variety in how he finishes.
"They’re coming from similar areas but the way he finishes them, they’re all different. They’re all different goals, it just shows what a quality player he is." Carragher said.
He has finished with a left foot goal against Hull, a volleyed finish with his right foot against Arsenal and an impressive solo goal against Manchester United.
Coleman feels that Rogers causes problems for defenders due to his smart movement into dangerous areas. Comparing his runs to Dele Alli.
"He’s got to be well organised at full-back and right centre-back to stop him getting in those areas. He’s got that run that reminds me of the one I used to defend against Dele Alli when he was at Tottenham."
Chelsea fans will remember Dele’s incredible brace against them in January 2017, ending their 13 game winning streak at home against Tottenham. Rogers is now causing similar problems in the same areas.
