Man Utd Superstar Named in WhoScored Premier League Team of The Month Despite Winless Streak

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has earned an unexpected place in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Month for October, despite the club enduring another disappointing run of results without a single victory.

According to a report by the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Portuguese international received the recognition for his individual statistical performances during a difficult month for the Red Devils.

October proved particularly frustrating for United, who continued their struggles from September and failed to secure a win in any competition. Their poor form has increased the pressure on head coach Michael Carrick, with questions continuing to emerge about his position.

Supporters have expressed their disappointment with the players, the club’s ownership and football director Jason Wilcox, although many have continued to defend Carrick. Their reaction suggests that they do not believe the manager is entirely responsible for the team’s disappointing performances.

While several United players have struggled to meet expectations, Dalot’s individual statistics have apparently been strong enough to earn him recognition among the Premier League’s best performers for October.

The defender has frequently faced criticism for his displays, but his contributions during the month secured him a place in WhoScored’s selected team alongside Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes and other notable Premier League players.

Bart Verbruggen was named in goal, while Josh Acheampong, James Hill, Gabriel Magalhaes and Dalot made up the defensive line. Pedro Neto, Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson and Jeremy Doku were selected in midfield, with Evanilson and Nicolas Jackson completing the attack.

Dalot featured for 302 minutes during October, winning 22 duels, including 11 aerial battles. These numbers contributed to his inclusion despite Manchester United’s disappointing collective performances.

However, his selection does not mean his overall defensive displays have been free from criticism. United failed to win any of their matches during the month, and Dalot was part of a defensive unit that struggled to keep clean sheets.

The Portuguese defender has now made 258 appearances for Manchester United, featuring regularly under Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim and current manager Carrick.

His versatility has also been valuable to the club, as he is capable of operating on either side of the defence. However, his continued presence in the starting lineup may also reflect the limited competition for the full-back positions within the squad.

Despite receiving statistical recognition, Dalot will need to deliver more consistent performances on the pitch as United attempt to recover from their difficult start to the campaign.

His Premier League statistics this season include nine appearances, 649 minutes played, 15 key passes and a passing accuracy of 79 per cent. He has also recorded 17 tackles, one block, 13 interceptions and 47 duels won.

Additionally, the defender has attempted 19 dribbles, successfully completing seven, according to figures available on November 3, 2026.
