Wayne Rooney is 'Sick' of What Amad Did Recently at Manchester United

According to a report by Manchesterevening News on Tuesday November 3, 2026, Amad may have been among Manchester United’s better performers this season, but his recent actions have frustrated club legend Wayne Rooney, who believes players must demonstrate their commitment on the pitch.

Manchester United’s disappointing campaign has placed enormous pressure on Michael Carrick, with the team struggling despite ending last season showing impressive form and ambitions of challenging near the top.

The current situation has left supporters increasingly frustrated, and Rooney believes Amad’s latest social media activity following their defeat against Chelsea was unnecessary and disappointing.

The Ivorian winger is generally considered a professional figure who avoids creating unnecessary controversy at Old Trafford. Although he has occasionally shared indirect messages online, he has largely remained committed to managers.

Amad also continued supporting Carrick despite previously experiencing difficulties under Erik ten Hag, making his latest comments particularly frustrating for Rooney, who expected performances rather than public statements.

Following United’s 2-0 defeat against Chelsea, Amad posted a message expressing excitement about the team eventually recovering from its difficult situation. However, Rooney was unimpressed by the winger’s response.

Speaking on The Overlap, the former United captain acknowledged Amad’s commitment but insisted that attacking players must produce goals and assists when given opportunities to influence matches.

“To be fair to Amad, he works hard. He does. He works extremely hard. But if you played in that position, you have to score. You have to assist,” Rooney said.

He continued by explaining that Amad had placed himself in promising attacking positions but needed to turn those opportunities into meaningful contributions instead of relying on encouraging messages.

“I’m sick of hearing all these posts and seeing all this whatever. Just do your talking on the pitch. That’s all that everyone wants to see. Go out there and perform on the pitch!”

Rooney’s frustration reflects the growing disappointment among Manchester United supporters, who have repeatedly heard optimistic messages about improvements without seeing convincing performances or consistent results.

For many fans, talk of an eventual recovery has lost its appeal after repeated disappointments. They now want the players to demonstrate their determination through performances and victories.
