NGA Vs BRA: How Nigeria Could Line Up Against Brazil

According to a report by ESPN on Monday November 2 2026, Nigeria's Flamingos are preparing for a difficult semi-final encounter against Brazil at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, with head coach Akeem Busari expected to maintain the core of the team that defeated Venezuela in the quarter-finals.

The Nigerian youngsters secured their place in the last four after recording a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Venezuela. Captain Azeezat Oduntan scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute, keeping Nigeria's hopes of reaching the final alive.

With Brazil standing between the Flamingos and a place in the final, Busari is expected to rely on the players who have been instrumental in Nigeria's impressive campaign.

Jane Ijirigho is expected to retain her position in goal following her outstanding performances in the competition. The goalkeeper could be protected by a defensive line consisting of Azeezat Oduntan, Ohunene Sunday, Esther Stephen and Kanyinsola Yusuf.

In midfield, Favour Nkwocha, Mary Dunstan and Tosin Rafiu are expected to provide the necessary balance, combining defensive responsibilities with creativity and attacking support.

Nigeria could depend on the attacking trio of Queen Joseph, Oluebube Umejiaku and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi to trouble the Brazilian defence. Umejiaku's pace and attacking movement will be particularly important as the Flamingos look to exploit spaces behind their opponents.

Nigeria's predicted starting XI against Brazil (4-3-3):

Jane Ijirigho; Azeezat Oduntan (C), Ohunene Sunday, Esther Stephen, Kanyinsola Yusuf; Favour Nkwocha, Mary Dunstan, Tosin Rafiu; Queen Joseph, Oluebube Umejiaku, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi.

However, Brazil will present a significant challenge for the Nigerian team. The South Americans reached the semi-finals after producing a 2-1 comeback victory over China, with Helena scoring twice.

Another player Nigeria must pay close attention to is Greise Kelly, who has been one of the outstanding performers in the competition. According to FIFA, she has contributed three goals and five assists to Brazil's campaign.

The Flamingos will therefore need to remain disciplined defensively, control the midfield and take advantage of their scoring opportunities.

A victory would send Nigeria into their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup final, making Wednesday's encounter an important opportunity for Busari and his players to create history.
