Carrick breaks silence on Manchester United future amid growing sack pressure

According to a report by the Evening Standard on Monday, November 2, 2026, Michael Carrick has addressed the increasing uncertainty surrounding his position as Manchester United manager, insisting that he remains committed to the club despite mounting pressure over his future.

The Red Devils have endured a frustrating period under Carrick, struggling to produce positive results in recent weeks. United have reportedly gone nine matches without recording a victory in all competitions, raising serious concerns about the manager's ability to turn things around.

Manchester United are currently 17th in the Premier League standings, with only one league victory to their name this season. Their other success came in the Champions League against Sabah.

The situation has become increasingly uncomfortable for Carrick following disappointing performances against Como and Bournemouth. United's 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth particularly angered supporters, who expressed their frustration by booing the players at the final whistle.

Their problems continued last weekend when Chelsea secured a 2-0 victory over United at Stamford Bridge, adding to the criticism directed at the coaching staff.

With pressure continuing to increase, reports indicate that Manchester United could review Carrick's position during the November international break before deciding on the next course of action.

However, the former United midfielder has refused to act like someone who believes his departure is imminent. When asked whether he felt he had only two matches left as manager, Carrick confidently replied, "Not at all."

He acknowledged that football is unpredictable and that nobody can guarantee what will happen in the coming months. Nevertheless, he explained that the uncertainty surrounding his future has not affected his passion for the job.

Carrick also revealed that he was looking forward to the next match, despite the team's recent struggles, making it clear that he remains enthusiastic about leading Manchester United.

His statement came before Tuesday's Champions League clash with Roma at Old Trafford, where United will have another opportunity to produce a convincing performance.

The Red Devils are also scheduled to face Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend. These two fixtures could be extremely important for Carrick as he attempts to ease the growing concerns surrounding his leadership.

Although speculation about his possible dismissal continues, Carrick's latest comments suggest that he remains determined to fight for his position and restore Manchester United's fortunes.
