According to a report by the London Evening Standard on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal defender Katie Reid has suffered another injury setback, with the young centre-back now expected to remain sidelined until after Christmas. The development is another disappointing blow for the 20-year-old, who had been working towards returning to competitive football after a lengthy absence.
Reid sustained an ankle injury shortly after returning to full team training following approximately a year away from action because of an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Her rehabilitation had been progressing positively, raising hopes that she would soon be available for selection. However, the latest problem has disrupted her recovery and delayed her anticipated comeback.
Arsenal Women manager Renée Slegers confirmed the situation during her pre-match press conference ahead of the team's encounter with Aston Villa. She disclosed that Reid had resumed training with the squad before suffering the ankle injury.
Slegers explained that the defender was unlikely to return before Christmas, expressing disappointment over another interruption to her recovery. Arsenal will now have to exercise patience as the youngster continues her rehabilitation.
Despite Reid's setback, there was some encouraging news regarding other members of the squad. Kim Little returned to action during Arsenal's Champions League fixture, while Frida Maanum could also be available for the upcoming meeting with Aston Villa.
Goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar is another player progressing towards a return. However, Slegers indicated that the Aston Villa fixture might come too early for her, leaving her participation uncertain.
Meanwhile, Chloe Kelly remains unavailable as she continues recovering from a hamstring injury that has kept her out since late September. The forward recently visited a specialist for further assessment, although the manager could not provide a definite date for her return.
Arsenal will continue monitoring Kelly's condition daily while assessing her symptoms and recovery progress.
For Reid, the latest development is particularly frustrating because she had only recently returned to training after an extended rehabilitation period. The club will carefully manage her recovery before considering another return to full training.
Further medical assessments will determine the next steps in her rehabilitation, with a comeback after Christmas currently representing the earliest expected timeframe.
