EPL Table After Manchester United Lost 3-0

According to a report by BBC SPORT on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Bournemouth stunned Manchester United with a commanding 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. The visitors took advantage of several defensive lapses to claim all three points, leaving the home side struggling to recover from a disappointing performance.

Rayan put Bournemouth ahead during the first half, while Marcus Tavernier scored their second goal before the break. Evanilson added a third after half-time, sealing an emphatic win for the visitors.

Bournemouth began the encounter with confidence and created problems for Manchester United from the opening minutes. Rayan had a golden chance to score in the fifth minute, but his unmarked header from a corner went wide of the goal. Bournemouth continued to threaten, and Tavernier forced Senne Lammens to make a save with an effort from outside the penalty area.

Although Manchester United attempted to dictate the game with their passing, Bournemouth remained a threat whenever they attacked. Diogo Dalot failed to keep his effort on target after finding space inside the box, while Bryan Mbeumo came closer with a low shot that Djordje Petrovic brilliantly kept out.

The visitors took the lead in the 38th minute through Rayan. Justin Kluivert sent a dangerous free-kick into the penalty area, where Rayan found space behind United's defence and struck the ball into the bottom-left corner. His finish rewarded Bournemouth for their positive approach to the game.

Manchester United's defensive struggles continued as the first half approached its conclusion. A costly error in the 43rd minute gave Tavernier the opportunity to increase Bournemouth's lead, and he made no mistake from close range to put the visitors 2-0 ahead. United failed to produce an immediate response, and Carlos Baleba subsequently sent an effort narrowly over the crossbar.

Carrick made a change at the break, bringing Matheus Cunha onto the pitch in the hope of strengthening United's attack. Nevertheless, Bournemouth continued to look threatening after the restart. Lammens was forced to produce an outstanding save to deny Rayan from adding another goal shortly into the second half.

Manchester United searched for a way back into the contest, with Mbeumo and Cunha both attempting to trouble Bournemouth's defence. However, neither player could find the target, and the home side's chances of recovering diminished further in the 71st minute.

Evanilson capitalised on another defensive lapse to put the result beyond doubt. The Bournemouth forward received an opportunity near the edge of the box and calmly finished to make it 3-0, punishing United for their continued defensive shortcomings.

Carrick introduced further changes in an attempt to salvage something from the match, but Bournemouth defended resolutely and refused to give their opponents a route back into the game. Yoro missed a late headed chance, providing another example of United's lack of effectiveness in front of goal.

Bournemouth saw out the remainder of the match without surrendering their advantage, earning an impressive 3-0 win away from home. Manchester United, meanwhile, were left disappointed after a performance undermined by defensive errors and a failure to convert their opportunities.
