Real Madrid 1-1 Al-Hilal: Match Report and Player Ratings – Club World Cup 2025

Xabi Alonso and Simone Inzaghi began their managerial reigns at Real Madrid and Al-Hilal respectively with a 1-1 draw in their opening Club World Cup fixture at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

First Half Action

Al-Hilal started aggressively, creating early pressure. Marcos Leonardo came close with a low drive after a swift counterattack, but it missed the target. Real Madrid responded in the 15th minute when Vinicius Junior broke forward but was booked for simulation after going down in the box.

Al-Hilal thought they had opened the scoring minutes later when Renan Lodi finished off a slick counter, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Despite Al-Hilal's momentum, it was Real Madrid who found the breakthrough in the 33rd minute. A precise through ball found 21-year-old Gonzalo Garcia, who calmly finished past the keeper to put Los Blancos ahead.

However, the lead didn’t last long. Raul Asencio pulled back an opponent inside the box, conceding a penalty. Ruben Neves stepped up and confidently sent the ball past Thibaut Courtois, leveling the match at 1-1.

Second Half

Real Madrid started the second half with increased urgency. Gonzalo Garcia nearly netted his second after a rebound fell kindly to him, but Bono made a fine save. Dean Huijsen made a defensive error by gifting the ball to Leonardo, whose effort struck the side netting.

Substitute Arda Guler went close with a curling shot from 25 yards, but it just missed the target. Federico Valverde also had an attempt from range, but his low effort was easily gathered by Bono.

As both sides searched for a winner, Real Madrid were awarded a penalty in the dying moments after Fran Garcia was struck in the face by Hassan Altambakti. Valverde took responsibility but delivered a tame strike, which Bono saved comfortably.
