According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup has been confirmed, with Nigeria’s Flamingos set to face Japan in the competition’s title-deciding match.
The final will take place on Saturday, November 7, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time, with both teams preparing for an opportunity to finish the tournament as world champions.
Nigeria secured their place in the final after defeating Brazil 3-1 in Wednesday’s semi-final. The Flamingos produced an impressive second-half display to record a historic victory and reach the final for the first time since the team began competing in the tournament.
Queen Joseph opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 56th minute, giving the team the advantage after a competitive first half. Awawu Bashiru then increased the lead in the 71st minute before scoring again in the 80th minute to complete her brace and put Nigeria three goals ahead.
Brazil managed to find the net through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute, but the late goal was not enough to change the result. Nigeria maintained their advantage until the final whistle and booked their place in the final.
Japan earned the other spot after overcoming defending champions North Korea in a closely contested semi-final. The match ended 1-1 after normal time, forcing both teams to settle the contest through a penalty shootout. Japan eventually won 4-1 to secure their place in Saturday’s encounter.
The final will bring together Nigeria and Japan, two teams that have successfully progressed through the tournament to reach the last stage of the competition.
For the Flamingos, the match presents an opportunity to achieve another important milestone in Nigerian women’s football. The team previously reached the semi-finals in 2022 in India, where they defeated Germany in the third-place match to claim the bronze medal. Their progress in Morocco has now taken them beyond that stage.
Japan, meanwhile, will be looking to complete their campaign by defeating Nigeria and lifting the trophy.
With the two teams now confirmed for the final, attention will turn to Saturday’s match, where the Flamingos will have the chance to win Nigeria’s first FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title.
