According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Barcelona could revive their pursuit of Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi in the summer of 2027 after failing to sign the French youngster despite making two offers last summer.
The Catalan club are reportedly keeping a close eye on the talented forward as they consider their long-term attacking options. Barcelona had previously viewed Kroupi as an alternative to Atletico Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, who was their preferred target.
Barcelona initially prioritised a move for Álvarez, but Atletico Madrid's reluctance to sell the Argentine international complicated negotiations. As a result, Kroupi emerged as another potential signing following an impressive debut season in the Premier League.
However, Bournemouth were determined to retain the 20-year-old and rejected both of Barcelona's proposals. The English club reportedly value the forward at more than €100 million, which could make a future deal difficult for the Spanish giants to complete.
Kroupi's progress suffered a setback in July when he sustained a metatarsal fracture that required several months of rehabilitation. He has since returned to on-pitch training and is working hard to regain full fitness before making his comeback to competitive football.
His recovery and performances over the coming months could influence Barcelona's decision on whether to pursue him again. The club will carefully evaluate his progress to determine whether he can reproduce the form that initially attracted their interest before committing to another significant transfer fee.
Nevertheless, a move to Camp Nou next summer is far from certain. Barcelona's transfer plans will depend on their attacking requirements and how their current forwards perform under manager Hansi Flick.
With several players already contributing to the team's attacking efforts, Barcelona's sporting department must decide whether recruiting another centre-forward is necessary. Consequently, Kroupi's continued development at Bournemouth could prove crucial to the club's long-term recruitment strategy.
