According to a report Daily Post on Monday October 26, 2026, After Real Madrid's 2-1 El Clasico triumph over Barcelona on Sunday, manager Jose Mourinho spoke about the team's resilience, poise, and bravery in the face of Barcelona's heavy pressing.

In a closely contested match, Kylian Mbappe scored twice to give Madrid the victory, while Raphinha scored for Barcelona.

Thanks to the win, Madrid is now only three points behind Barcelona in the LaLiga standings, putting them in a stronger position to challenge for the championship.

Mourinho was pleased with his team's performance, praising their determination to play out from the back despite Barcelona's pressure, when he spoke to the media after the match.

The Portuguese manager was proud of his team's tenacity in the face of relentless pressure from a team that often tries to create scoring opportunities through careless passing or dribbling.

"Last nite, my boys were incredible. As Mourinho put it, "they were very brave, especially in build-up," in the face of a high-pressing opponent.

Instead of letting Barcelona control the game, the Madrid coach claims his team showed the bravery to hold possession and find solutions despite the pressure.

Maintaining composure was crucial for Madrid as they sought to capitalize on opportunities and counter Barcelona's high-pressing game.

After Barcelona equalized, Mourinho was equally pleased with his team's response. Madrid maintained their competitive spirit and ultimately secured the victory, showing no signs of nervousness or loss of focus.

"And we remained calm and focused even after they leveled out," he continued.

In a match where the lead can change hands in the blink of an eye, the manager's remarks emphasized the significance of mental toughness.

Even though Barcelona's equalizer made things more difficult for Madrid, the visitors kept their heads down and kept looking for the winner.

The game-winning goals came from Mbappe, who scored twice to give Madrid the victory. In high-stakes games against teams vying for the championship, the French forward's performance highlighted his value to the team's offensive goals.

While Barcelona had a chance to respond, Mourinho conceded that his team could have won the match with a second goal.

The Madrid manager admitted that his team was vulnerable and Barcelona had a chance to stay in the game because they failed to create a two-goal advantage.

Mourinho was nevertheless satisfied with the game as a whole, praising his team's self-control and composure in the face of persistent pressure from Barcelona.

As they aim to challenge Barcelona for the LaLiga title, Madrid will take this victory as a significant boost. In addition to boosting Mourinho's squad's confidence for their upcoming matches, closing the gap to three points maintains pressure on the defending champions.

After their upcoming league match against Racing Santander, Madrid will play AEK Athens away in the Champions League.

In those upcoming matches, Mourinho will be looking for a continuation of his team's El Clasico success, but he will also be demanding better game management and more efficient use of opportunities.
