EPL: Fixtures we could see shock results this weekend

According to a report by Daily Post News, Saturday 24 October 2026, the Premier League’s eighth matchday began on Friday following the midweek Champions League fixtures.

Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town played out a 1-1 draw at Portman Road on Friday night, with Julio Enciso and Neco Williams getting on the scoresheet.

More Premier League fixtures are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at various stadiums across England.

Here are four matches that could produce surprising results this weekend:

1. Arsenal vs Everton

Arsenal currently occupy second place in the Premier League and remain unbeaten at home in the league this season. The Gunners have also avoided defeat in their last seven meetings with Everton.

However, Everton have struggled for consistency, winning only one of their last six league matches. Arsenal could also be affected by injury concerns, with Bukayo Saka picking up an injury during the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, while William Saliba remains unavailable.

Everton, on the other hand, have performed well on the road. The Toffees have drawn all three of their away league matches this season and could potentially secure another point at the Emirates.

2. Chelsea vs Tottenham

Chelsea will go into the London derby as favourites when they welcome Tottenham to Stamford Bridge. Spurs have managed just one victory in their last 36 Premier League visits to Chelsea.

Tottenham have also suffered defeat in their last six London derbies, while they have never previously lost seven consecutive league derbies. Their confidence was boosted on Monday after they secured their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City.

Chelsea, however, have their own concerns, particularly in defence. Goalkeeper Emi Martínez is unavailable following jaw surgery, while Reece James is also still sidelined. Tottenham could therefore take advantage and produce an unexpected result against Xabi Alonso’s team.

3. Aston Villa vs Manchester City

Manchester City have made a perfect start to the Premier League campaign, winning all seven of their matches. Another victory against Aston Villa would see them become only the eighth team in English top-flight history to begin a season with eight consecutive league wins.

Villa, however, have a strong recent record against City, winning four of their last six league meetings. Unai Emery’s team are also unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions.

With Villa showing signs of a resurgence and City yet to consistently match their results with convincing performances, the hosts could provide a major test for the champions.

4. Liverpool vs Brighton

Liverpool will be expected to claim victory when Brighton visit Anfield, but the Reds have failed to win any of their last five Premier League home matches.

Brighton have been one of the most entertaining teams in the league this season. Fabian Hürzeler’s side are currently third in the table, ahead of Liverpool, and have scored an impressive 23 goals in their first seven matches.

Given Brighton’s attacking form and Liverpool’s recent struggles at home, the visitors could cause a major upset by taking all three points at Anfield.
