Latest EPL Table After Arsenal Win and Manchester City Suffer First League Defeat

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Arsenal moved level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table after Saturday’s matches, while Tottenham Hotspur climbed the standings with a victory over Chelsea.

Manchester City began the day at the summit with 21 points from seven wins in eight matches. However, Pep Guardiola’s side suffered their first league defeat of the campaign after losing 2-1 to Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Nicolas Jackson scored twice for Villa, finding the net in the sixth minute before adding his second after the interval. Erling Haaland briefly restored parity for City with a header, but the visitors could not avoid defeat.

Arsenal capitalised on City’s setback by beating Everton 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Ezri Konsa opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Gabriel Magalhaes secured the victory with a second-half header.

The Gunners consequently joined City on 21 points after eight matches, although City remained first because of their superior goal difference. Arsenal occupied second place, while Brighton and Hove Albion stayed third with 16 points from seven games.

Chelsea’s position came under pressure after they suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Tottenham. Mike Penders scored an own goal before Mathys Tel added a late second, handing Spurs a significant London derby victory.

The Blues remained on 13 points after eight matches, leaving them fourth in the standings. Liverpool occupied fifth place with 12 points, while Aston Villa climbed to sixth with 11 points following their impressive win over City.

Brentford, Leeds United, Everton and Ipswich Town were among the teams occupying the next positions, each having accumulated 10 points. Tottenham improved their league position after collecting three points at Stamford Bridge, while Fulham also celebrated a victory.

Fulham defeated Coventry City 1-0, with Oscar Bobb scoring the decisive goal in the 80th minute. The result lifted Fulham to eight points, while Coventry remained in the relegation zone after suffering another setback.

At the bottom of the table, Sunderland remained in 20th place with four points, leaving them under pressure to improve their results. Nottingham Forest and Coventry were also among the teams struggling near the relegation places.

The weekend’s action was not yet complete, with Liverpool scheduled to face Brighton, Manchester United set to host Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace due to meet Newcastle on Sunday.

Those fixtures could bring further changes to the standings as teams continue their efforts to improve their positions after the latest round of Premier League matches.
