LaLiga Table After Real Madrid Won 4-1

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Real Madrid boosted their hopes of challenging for the LaLiga title after defeating Sevilla 4-1 in an entertaining encounter. The victory helped Madrid collect three valuable points and move closer to the teams above them in the league standings.

The home side delivered an impressive attacking performance, with Arda Guler opening the scoring in the 30th minute. The midfielder produced a quality left-footed finish from outside the penalty area after receiving an assist from Yan Diomande. The goal gave Real Madrid the breakthrough they needed and increased their confidence as the match progressed.

Seven minutes later, Kylian Mbappe extended Madrid's advantage. The French forward found the net in the 37th minute after Jude Bellingham supplied the pass that created the opportunity. Madrid went into the half-time interval with a two-goal lead, leaving Sevilla with plenty of work to do after the break.

Real Madrid maintained their dominance in the second half and continued to threaten the visitors' defence. Their pressure resulted in another goal in the 63rd minute when Mbappe converted a penalty. The spot kick made it 3-0 and further strengthened Madrid's grip on the contest.

Sevilla managed to respond in the 80th minute as Manu Bueno scored to reduce the deficit. Lucas Stassin provided the assist, allowing the visitors to register a goal despite their difficulties throughout the encounter. However, their hopes of mounting a comeback suffered another setback just two minutes later.

Yan Diomande restored Madrid's three-goal cushion in the 82nd minute with a strike from outside the box. Aurelien Tchouameni assisted the goal, completing an impressive attacking display from the hosts and confirming their 4-1 victory.

Madrid also demonstrated their control of the match by enjoying 65 per cent possession. Their ability to retain the ball and create scoring opportunities made it difficult for Sevilla to establish a consistent attacking rhythm. Although Sevilla found the net once, they were unable to prevent the home side from securing a comfortable win.

The result had an important impact on the LaLiga standings. Real Madrid moved into third place following the victory and remained six points behind leaders Barcelona. Sevilla, on the other hand, fell to sixth position after failing to earn any points from the encounter.

Real Madrid will now look to maintain their momentum in their upcoming fixtures as they continue their pursuit of the league leaders. The convincing win over Sevilla has strengthened their position, but they will need further positive results to close the gap at the top of the table.
